When you first begin writing something, it's important that you just get all of your thoughts our on paper; try not to edit anything or worry about grammar. As you go through the process of revising you can take things out, add new thoughts in, and fix any spelling or grammar errors. As writers we sometimes become attached to what we've created, so it's important to remember to have an open mind. As you're revising, take time in between each revision so that when you come back it's easier to see anything that might not fit.
